First of all, you don’t want to sell a product that is bad. Now this may sound easy. »Oh I just buy 1 eBook and read it, this doesn’t sound too hard at all.« But when you have hundreds of products available, what do you do? Buy and read them all? I don’t think so.
But lets say you have a very specific niche that you would like to conquer. There are 10 different ebooks and you try all of them and decide for 1. This will take you quite some time and money. Now you have to start sending traffic to it, only then you will see how good it really converts for you. Most often the information about the conversion rate will not be correct for you. They may say average conversion is 6%, but you don’t even get 1%. It happened to me as well. This way you test your traffic and the product. But how do you know which one is making you all the problems.
Another pitfall is that you don’t control the sales page. You have no power over what the sales page looks like. You can get better results if you send really quality traffic in big numbers, but traffic is usually expensive or it takes a lot of effort. You don’t want to spend too much with getting too little. No matter how many quality prospects you send, if the sales page is bad, you won’t make a dime or not enough to cover your costs. Period! Third pitfall. Oh yes, today we are in a bad mood. The third problem is, when you find a really great product that converts good, it is a big chance that a lot of other affiliates will promote it as well. If you have your own product, you decide who can promote it and who not.
