How To Publish An E-zine Using Your Auto-responder
There are many uses for an auto-responder. One of many uses is the publishing an ezine or newsletter. Since auto-responder services as a rule are set up to send automatic responses to the prospects on the list at certain periods after they agree to receive your mails, preparing an auto-responder to send out a newsletter can be a bit confusing.
To circulate an e-zine your auto-responder service must offer a ‘broadcast’ feature. The broadcast feature works essentially the same way as the auto-response facility, with one large difference. The messages are not sent out at intervals after prospects opt in to your list. The newsletters can, however, be scheduled to be circulated at certain times and dates, which does not depend on when the person requested to be added to the mailing list.
Broadcast messages are one time correspondences that are only distributed to your current list members. People who opt into your e-mail list after the e-zine has been sent do not receive it, unless they specifically request it with an auto-responder address, which you must set up.
Using the broadcast facility of the majority of auto-responder services, you can either type your newsletter, or copy and paste it into the editor. Then you distribute the broadcast to all of your mailing list. More sophisticated auto-responder services will usually have broadcasting features as standard.
Using an auto-responder to maintain a mailing list and to circulate an e-zine is a wonderful idea. Your subscribers can easily opt-in, or opt-out, and all of the circulation is handled for you, based on the timetable that you set.
List maintenance can become very hard without the automation that auto-responders provide. You can compose each copy of your ezine or newsletter well in advance, and have it circulated to your mailing list, no matter where you are or what you are doing. That is the beauty of automation!
Since all past broadcast and auto-response messages are saved, you can easily refer back to previous issues, or allow subscribers to request past issues.
You can also use the tracking facility throughout each issue of the e-zine to find out how many clicks you are getting for the various products or websites that you promote in your messages.
If you have not yet purchased an autoresponder or signed up with any autoresponder service ensure that you enquire about the broadcast feature first. Not all auto-responders or autoresponder services have this feature, and as your marketing progresses, you will discover that this is one of the most valuable facilities of the service or program.
