The Sample Marketing Letter – A Business Savior

by John Farrazio

All businesses need to make sales in order to profit and a good way to do that is through strong sales letters. A good sales letter can have a big impact on a company’s bottom line. However, what is a business to do when there is no employee capable of writing a marketing letter that gets results?

A sample marketing letter can help anyone who is weak at writing sales copy by providing a step-by-step template to follow while constructing the sales piece. A sample marketing letter can benefit a business that needs more sales or anyone that wants to learn the art of copywriting. A good copywriter is an important business asset, but may be too expensive for fledgling businesses to hire. When learning copywriting on your own, a solid template is of great value.

Using a sample marketing letter has both pros and cons. Before using a sample, those should be well understood so the sample can be used properly to construct a sales letter that gets good results. In the end, that is the whole purpose of using the sample – to increase revenue.

The sample marketing letter will have been created by a professional and will include all of the points to stress when writing a marketing letter. When following these to write your own sales page, do not omit any important steps included on the sample. If you do, you may not get a very good result. Sometimes, the smallest things can make a big difference in sales.

Following a marketing letter template will give your sales piece some necessary structure so you do not start rambling or lose the reader’s train of thought. When complete, your marketing letter should be structured in a way that causes the reader to respond. The proper structure must be followed for best results.

Using a sample as guide will also help you keep your sales copy tight and brief. Too much information and too many choices overwhelm the reader and cause them to stop reading rather than buy. It is important to get to the point in a marketing letter but most people tend to ramble on. Following a template will help you control your tendencies to be verbose.

Be careful that your marketing letter does not come off as sounding canned when you follow a template. That is one of the disadvantages of using a sample marketing letter; it is generic and not tailored to any specific type of business.

Remember that you must carefully edit your own work. A professional may have written the sample, but you do not have a professional to proofread your final copy. No matter how carefully you follow the template, if your marketing letter is filled with grammar errors and typos, you will still make a bad impression.

A sample marketing letter is beneficial to all marketers whether it is an individual or business. They provide much needed guidance for those involved in direct marketing and are the next best thing to having your own copywriter.
